The research below sets out from the feminine individuality and the multiple symbolical projections of the woman, found in the Romanian writers’ poems of the period around The Revolution from 1848. The plotting and the images of the women, seen from the point of view of the 1848 romanticism are countless and divers. Sometimes, the women’s hypostases in lyrics are trite, with generic names, such as: little girl, sweetheart, wife, mother, princess, lady, housekeeper, and odalisque. Other times, the lover is individualized, being named Zamfira, Rodica, Steluţa, Niniţa, or even by following the national spirit, Romanian woman. The theme of amour, usually chosen by romanticists, refers to the woman as the lover’s ideal, or as the loving person, and the theme of nature finds the woman called with flower names (the woman-lily of the valley) or with bird names (the woman-skylark, swallow).
