The end of the 60’s marks the development of several inter and multidisciplinary studies, frequently known as “women studies” which represent a corpus of works “written by / about women”. With this paper, we shall take into consideration some of these studies which discuss the concept of “sex”, making a clear distinction between “gender” and the “social sex”, a distinction which led to new several researches in the symbolic anthropology debating the variability of the cognitive disposition of the sexual category depending on different societies.
