Sociocultural Perspectives on Masculinity and Feminity as Gender Identity Components

Distinction between the two aspects of gender identity appears as a result of a complex process involving a biological, psychological and social development. This article examines the ways in which literature, psychology and education has been influenced by feminist approaches and research into the areas of gender and sexuality. The impact of gender and gender-role on social aspects of life is considered.
