Over time, exile has become a leitmotif of the francophone literature. La disparition de la langue française written by Assia Djebar and Le ventre de l’Atlantique written by Fatou Diome, are two novels built around the theme of the exile which, of a real personal experience has been transformed into a literary theme. Experienced by the authors, the exile will influence their writing and will also be lived by the characters that are born under their pens: both, living far from their homeland, are always looking for a part of themselves whom they lost that they lost when they have chosen exile. So, they are all, women writers and characters, divided between two different cultural spaces which it is necessary to learn to reconcile in order to be able to acquire a multiple identities, a complex identity which will be their wealth.
