The woman of the 20th century from the totalitarian era had to respond to ideological imperatives. She was obliged to repress the ancestral needs of her femininity and to put on the working uniform of the fighter for the defence of the new proletarian religion, that of the tireless factory worker, that of the party activist who is responsible for ideological education, or that of martyrdom in the name of unconditional faith in comunism. Real life, feelings, motherhood, spare time, personal aspiration are sacrificed. The important part of a woman’s life had been, for centuries, the male figure of the old patriarchal world. Behind the fake ideal of equality, the femininity of a half a century was confiscated by another patriarchal symbol, this time without a face or fysical presence – the totalitarian party with ideological directives similar to inquisitorial attitudes from the past.
