During the XXth century, the beauty is not longer reserved to women, because it becomes in the same time object of masculine preoccupation. The aim of our paper is to offer a contrastive view upon feminine and masculine beauty in Pascal Bruckner’s novel “Beauty thieves”. Our analysis led us to the conclusion that in this novel, beauty, which is basically a physical attribute, becomes a social and identity recognition sign; on the other hand, the physical decrepitude is lived by the characters of this novel as a reason of social exclusion.
